A more common problem among home owners with their air-conditioning is water leakage. These water leakage when appeared, will cause a mess or in some cases, damage to your furniture and personal items. 1) Poor Installation
A poorly installed air-conditioning system is one of the top reasons why you may be facing an aircon water leak. During the process when your aircon is functioning, your air-conditioner draws moisture from your room and releases the warm air through your compressor. Condensation is formed during the process and water will drip from your aircon fan coil unit, via the aircon drainage, into your toilet.

2) Poor Cleaning & Maintenance
As we mention earlier, with such a warm weathers in Singapore, chances are, you are using your aircon more frequently. With higher usage, comes frequent cleaning and maintenance. If for any reason you might have overlooked in your aircon cleaning & maintenance, dust and dirt will form and accumulate within your aircon system leading to blockage and clogging on the essential components.
One of the components that dust and dirt may form to cause a block will be within the aircon drainage pipes. When jelly like substances are formed due to poor maintenance, the aircon piping will be clogged and water is unable to flow outwards, you may start experiencing water leakage in your aircon fan coil unit.
For a start, tt is recommended that during your aircon installation, choose a thicker aircon drainage pipe of 16mm instead of the standard 13mm drainage pipe. You may be required to top-up more but the additional dollars is definitely worth every buck.
- Find a old vacuum cleaner
- Place the suction opening at the end of your water drain line which can usually be found in your toilet
- Tap the suction opening of your vacuum and the end of your water drain line together to reduce any opening between the drain line and your vacuum
- Turn on the vacuum to remove any water or slime build-up in your drain line.
The above method should clear your aircon drain pipes which ensures better circulation. If your aircon water leak problem persist even after doing the above, get a professional aircon technician to inspect your aircon
3) Poor Or Damage Insulation
During the process when your aircon is operating, the aircon pipe will be freezing cold. If the insulation that warps around the aircon pipe is damage or inadequately used during your aircon installation, condensation is formed and water droplets can be found along your aircon trucking.
When such an event occurs, get immediate help from an aircon expert.
4) Misaligned Or Damaged Aircon Drain Pan
Your aircon drain pan is responsible for collecting water when your aircon is operating. If the aircon drain pan was misaligned during the installation process, you can expect water leakage in your aircon fan coil unit as the water collected is unable to flow outwards into your aircon drainage pipe properly.
