What is Aircon Chemical Overhaul?

An aircon chemical overhaul is a deep cleaning service where the unit is dismantled and treated with specialized chemical solutions to remove stubborn dirt, mold, and bacteria from key parts like the heat exchanger, evaporator, fan, and drainage system. This process is more thorough than a regular wash, restoring cooling efficiency, improving air quality, and extending the lifespan of your aircon.

An air conditioner chemical overhaul is a more extensive type of aircon maintenance procedure that involves using chemicals to thoroughly clean and rejuvenate the internal components of the air conditioner.

This can help to restore the air-conditioner to its optimal performance level and extend its life. During an aircon overhaul, a technician will typically disassemble the air conditioner and use specialized chemicals to clean and treat the various parts, including the evaporator coil, condenser coil, and drainage system.

The technician may also perform other maintenance tasks, such as checking for leaks, replacing worn parts, and adjusting the system to ensure it is operating at its best. An air conditioner chemical overhaul is typically recommended for older systems or systems that have not been well maintained, and it should be performed by a trained and experienced technician.

Many of us are using our air-conditioners on a regular basis, and with the extended period of usage, servicing is required. This is because, when dust & dirt accumulates, blocks and clogs will slowly damage your aircon unit. you may start experiencing weird noises coming from your aircon, the aircon not being cold, or the aircon water leaking.

A common aircon problem many of our customers experience is the need to constantly lower the temperature just to experience the coolness in your aircon system. This increases your electricity consumption which makes your aircon work harder just so you can experience the coolness.

The answer to your air-conditioner problem is to use our chemical overhaul. The intense and detailed cleaning will restore each and every part of your aircon as if it’s brand new again.

If you’re looking an alternative option that requires no dismantling and faster cleaning, why not consider our chemical wash

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Aircon Servicing Important?

Aircon servicing is a necessary part of your aircon maintenance. The benefits of regular maintenance includes:

1) The longevity of your aircon. A well maintain air-conditioning will be able to last longer

2) Clean aircon ensures that your aircon is operating at its optimal level which in turn helps reduce your utility bill.

3) Cleaner air circulation which is important if you have family members with a sensitive nose.

As the cost of air-conditioning rises, it is definitely cheaper to do aircon maintenance than to purchase a new aircon. On top of that, by keeping your aircon clean, you save on your electrical bills while ensuring that the air that is produced is cleaner for you & your family.

As with all equipment, the higher the usage, the more often maintenance is required. Below is rough time frame of usage for your reference.

Regular Usage
If you use daily on an average of 6-8 hours daily, you will require to service your aircon on a more regular.  With higher usage, dust & dirt starts to accumulate and over time may decrease the efficiency of your air-conditioning. For daily usage, we recommend general aircon servicing to be done on your aircon once every 3 months

Occasional Usage
For homeowners that use their aircon less often, you may choose to service your aircon on a longer interval. For such cases, we recommend chemical aircon servicing once every 2 years to ensure the longevity of the aircon

For homeowners who are more hands-on and would like to clean their own aircon, here are some simple steps you can follow for basic maintenance. These involve accessing the fan coil, which is usually as easy as lifting the cover of your unit.

Various air-conditioning models may vary and it is recommended that you do a video search on youtube to understand the method to avoid damaging your air-conditioning.

Step 1:

Gently lift the cover of your aircon and remove the filters

Step 2:

Thoroughly wash your filters with water and dry it before putting the filters back into your aircon

Step 3:

Check for any large particles of dirt that is visible on fan coil and gently use a vaccum to remove it. Do not use excessive force which may damage the fan coil

Step 4:

Place the removed filters(make sure they are dry) back into their orginal position and close the lit of yoir aircon

If your aircon is taking longer than usual to cool the room, blowing warm air, or you notice ice forming on the copper pipes outside, these are common signs that your refrigerant level may be low. The most accurate way to confirm is to have a technician check the gas pressure using a manifold gauge.

It is not recommended. Handling refrigerant requires proper tools, safety equipment and technical knowledge. Using the wrong type of gas or overfilling the system can damage your aircon and void your warranty. It is always safer and more cost effective to engage a certified technician to do the job correctly

The cost depends on the type of refrigerant your aircon uses as well as the type of unit you have. Prices vary accordingly so it is best to contact us directly for an accurate quote.

Not necessarily. If your aircon is low on gas, it usually means there is a leak somewhere in the system. Topping up the gas without fixing the leak first means the refrigerant will run out again over time. A proper gas top up service should always include a leak check and repair before the refrigerant is refilled. This is what our technicians at CoolAire do on every job.
